This is the preparatory drawing for an etching included in a scarce portfolio entitled Recueil de figures et de groupes a l'eau-forte par Ph. L. Parizeau. An impression of the etching is held in the Albertina along with numerous other works by Parizeau. The drawing was once owned by the Viennesse art dealer Josef Grünling and was catalogued as lot 862 when his collection was dispersed at auction in 1823.
